How does Fauna evaluate brands?
Before any brand is listed in the app, they’ve gone through a review conducted by Fauna’s sustainability council. The council addresses all publicly available data on each brand’s sustainability efforts; from their business model to certifications, and more.
How is my personal Fauna score calculated?
Your Fauna score is based off the average of your 30 latest purchases. The score you see in each category, is based on your 10 latest purchases.
If you’ve bought something from both green and red rated brands, you’ll likely get a yellow score. The score will automatically update whenever you make new purchases from brands listed in the app.

How are the brands' scores calculated?
Each brand’s score is based on the research from Fauna’s sustainability council. The council review all publicly available data on each brand, and check if they meet certain criteria.
Main vs. Additional
Their review is based on two sets of criteria. «Main criteria» are the ones who have the most impact on the environment. A good example is a circular business model. «Additional criteria» are relevant too, but the impact of these are minimal in comparison. Certifications are typical examples of additional criteria.
Those brands who meet one or more of the «Main criteria», are highly recommended and receives a green status. Those who only meet one or more «Additional criteria», will be rated red or yellow. Within the red and yellow batches, the brands will be sorted by their sustainability efforts.

No. Once you've connected your bank, your Fauna points will register automatically when buying from brands rated as green. This is also the only way to earn Fauna points.
You don't need to go through Fauna every time you buy something to have the points registered. You'll earn Fauna points regardless if your bank is connected. If your bank isn't connected, you won't earn Fauna points.

How do you earn money?
We provide environmentally friendly companies with new customers, and in return they reward us for this with a commission from their sales.
How can consumption help the climate?
When you choose something sustainable over something less sustainable it will in it self have a positive impact on the environment.
Every time you spend money on something you also influence the market demand. We know that when consumer preferences change, businesses are quick to adapt. The same goes for politicians. So: if enough people are motivated to change their shopping habits, the rest of our society will follow.

What does it mean when a partner is "Under review"?
When the partner has this status, it means that we have received information that allows us to make a new assessment of whether the company operates within our strict guidelines for sustainability and ethics. This status also applies if there has been new research on what can be considered sustainable and ethical, and we must update our guidelines and partner portfolio accordingly.
Our sustainability council are the ones making the assessment. As long as the partner is "Under review", no decision has been made. Within 14 days, the council will come to its conclusion. The company will then either continue as a Fauna partner or be suspended.
Until the sustainability council has reached its decision, all members of Fauna will still earn bonus points from the partner. If the company is suspended, members will not lose previously earned bonus points.
