How do we treat and transfer data as part of our services?

Fauna Privacy Policy

At Fauna we respect your right to privacy and we want you to feel safe that your personal data will be processed in accordance with GDPR. Personal data generally means any information that directly or indirectly identifies you as an individual.

Fauna is the data controller (within the meaning of GDPR), meaning that we are responsible for processing your personal data as decribed in this Privacy Policy and in accordance with GDPR.

This privacy policy contains information you are entitled to receive when data about you is collected, for instance from our website, and general information about how we process personal data. The word “you” in this statement refers to you as a member, potention member or another relevant party.

What information do we collect and why?

We collect personal information about you such as name and contact information with the purpose to administer your account, contact you when nesseccary and to personalize your experience of our service. Contact can be done through email, SMS, our app or through other channels.

When joining the loyalty program part of Fauna we will also collect bank information so maintain and validate your Fauna points. Information required to administer your account can also include purchase transactions, point values, customer number, membership identifier, consents, reservations and other interactions with our services.

Personal information will not be shared with third parties and will be used to administer your membership and to keep you updated on information relating to your Fauna membership. You can at any time cancel your account from your profile, or cancel your email subscriptions by clicking the "cancel subscription" link supplied in all emails.

Data about how you are using our services will be stored to help us provide a personalized experience. This data can also be used to gather statistics on how our members use our services. Anonymized statistics can be shared with our partners.

If you have joined our loyatly rewards program we will also collect data about your purchases from bank accounts you have connected to Fauna. By neccessity our services scan all transactions on the account, but we only store information about your transactions connected to our partners. If you agree to it when connecting your account, information about other transactions might be store anonymously and used to gather statistics on our users' behavior.

Your IP-address, and possibly device id, will be stored to help us run and secure our systems.

How do we collect your data?

Your personal information is provided by you during registration or while updating your membership profile.

Your use of our services is logged by, among others, Google Analytics, Segment, and Mixpanel, as well as our internal services. This information is used to maintain our systems and improve our services. Logging of system failures is done with Sentry, where your IP address, OS and browser might be stored to assist us in fixing the error.

Your IP-address is stored as part of our system logs.

Your purchases with our partners are logged by reading the transaction lists from the bank accounts connected to you Fauna membership. Retrieval of transactions are done using Tink. The transaction information that Fauna receives includes, but is not limited to, value of purchase, time of purchase, and where the purchase was done.

What are your privacy rights?

Fauna would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights as given by GDPR to help you protect you privacy. Every user is entitled to the following:

  • Information about the processing of personal data— You have the right to information about how we process your personal information. The most important thing about the duty to provide information is that it must ensure that you can understand how personal data is processed, what consequences the processing may have, what rights you have and how these rights can be used.

  • Access to own personal information— You have the right to request access to your personal information. This means that you will be informed if we process your personal data, and you also have the right to receive a copy of the information we have stored about you (with a few exceptions).

  • Correction of personal information— You have the right to have personal information that is incorrect or inaccurate corrected. This ensures, among other things, that we have updated information about you as a user so that we do not make decisions on the wrong basis or send information to the wrong recipient.

  • Deletion of personal information— In certain cases, you have the right to request the deletion of personal data. This applies, for example, when the storage of personal data is no longer necessary to achieve the purpose of the processing if you withdraw consent and there is no legal basis for the processing, e.g.

  • Limitation of use of personal information— You can request that we do not use personal data for anything other than establishing, asserting or defending legal claims (e.g. demanding payment for an agreement), to protect someone else's rights or to safeguard important public interests if:

    1. You have requested that incorrect information be corrected (until the information is corrected)
    2. You have complained about the processing of personal data (until you have received feedback on the complaint)
    3. You find that our processing of the information lacks a legal basis, and you prefer that we delete it

  • Data portability— You have the right to request that personal information be disclosed. The purpose of this right is to give you control over your information, and will, among other things, make it easier for you to move from one service provider to another. The right only applies to information that you have provided to us, and only when we use the information to fulfil an agreement with you (e.g. provide a membership) or the use of the information is based on your consent.

  • Right of objection (right of reservation)— You have the right to object to the collection and use of personal data for our legitimate interests, cf. information about our treatment basis. If you are in the right to object, we are obliged to terminate the processing of personal data. The exception is if there are compelling and justified reasons for the processing that take precedence over the interests of you, or if the processing is necessary to establish, assert or defend a legal claim.

You have a right to complain about our processing of your personal data. Aslo, you have the right to complain about the processing of your personal data to the supervisory authority.

Cookies

When you visit our website, cookies are stored on your device (e.g computer or phone) and transferred to us. Cookies are text files stored on your computer, phone or other device and they make it possible to collect information about your use of our website. When you visit our webpages we can automatically collect information about you by using said cookies or similar technologies. For more information please read our Cookie policy page.

Who do we share personal information with?

Fauna regularly calculates point values for purchases and services with our partners, and Fauna can share this information with the respective partners when it is of relevance. Other information can be shared with our partners if it's been specified in the membership agreement, other valid agreements or when consent has been given.

As our activities require expertise and resources from other companies, we will also use external suppliers to be enable us to perform these activities. When Faunea outsources tasks that call for a service provider to process personal data on behalf of Fauna rather than for its own purposes, the service provider will normally be a data processor. In such cases Fauna is required to enter into a data processor agreement with the service provider. This applies irrespective of whether Fauna uses data prosecessors in Norway or another country in the EEA or third countries.

Privacy policy for other webpages

Our webpages contain links to other webpages. Our privacy policy is only for our webpages, so if you click a link to an different webpage, that belong to someone else, you should be aware that you are on another service provider's webpage and you should read their privacy policy to understand how your personal data is collected on their webpage.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We will keep your personal data for no longer than is necessary for the purpose described in this Privacy Policy or other consent declarations you have agreed to, unless there is a legal basis for such processing. If you chose to delete your Fauna account we will delete your personal data as soon as possible, unless there is a legal basis that requires us to keep it for longer (e.g transaction data for purchases with our partners must be kept longer due to fiscal laws).

Our company regularly reviews the privacy policy and updates this page as required. Last changes to the privacy policy was on 1st of June 2022.
